Jivamukti Open (vinyasa)

My grandmother was an Amsterdam based yoga teacher, but as a child I only found her very funny her doing all these pretzel-like poses. Little did I know that in 2002 I would find my own way to yoga. In 2016 I felt it was time to do my Jivamukti Yoga teacher training in India. Some call Jivamukti Yoga the punk rock of yoga. And I agree. At its core there’s pure spiritual activism, integrated into strong, creative āsana classes, with a focus on the ancient yoga teachings/philosophy. I balance Jivamukti classes with Restorative Yoga, and did my 30 hour training with Judith Hanson Lasater and Lizzie Lasater. I bow down to my dear teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life, Judith Hanson Lasater and my amazing mentor Emma Henry. David Life just says it all: “ Yoga is not for people interested in staying the same”. And then there’s always the Beastie Boys to remind us: "I've never been more ready in my entire life to do this right now. Never” (from Alive).
